I'm Si, a geometric and blackwork tattoo artist in Bristol. I work from a private studio in Bristol, by appointment only. Geometric and ornamental work is what I do most.

Geometric tattooing is clean shapes, lines and symmetry, mandalas, sacred geometry, repeating patterns and ornamental work. I do it in solid black blackwork, usually at a good size, so it stays bold and holds its shape for years. It's precise work, and it's where most of my focus goes.

What I do

All of it is custom, and most of it is larger work. What I take on:

  • Geometric and sacred-geometry sleeves
  • Mandala and ornamental tattoos
  • Geometric back pieces
  • Ornamental and pattern work, dotwork and linework
  • Japanese-inspired geometric blackwork
  • Geometric panels combined with blackout

Why geometric work takes a specialist

Geometric work has to line up with the part of the body it's on, or it looks off, so I plan each design around the placement before we start. I always stencil the geometry so it's exact, and I combine that with freehand organic shapes where the design needs to flow.

Clean symmetry doesn't hide mistakes. A line that's slightly off is obvious in geometric work in a way it isn't in other styles, so it takes constant practice to keep it sharp. It's what I do every day, which is exactly why it's worth going to someone who specialises in it.

Mandalas & ornamental work

A lot of what I do is mandalas, sacred geometry and repeating ornamental patterns. These suit larger placements, sleeves, backs, chests, where there's room for the pattern to breathe and line up properly. I design the whole composition around the body it's going on.

Geometric with blackout

Geometric panels and blackout go together really well, solid black areas next to clean geometry, or negative-space shapes left in the skin. If you like the bold, graphic look, that's a strong combination. You can see more on my blackout tattoo page.

My process

Every piece is custom, so it starts with a consultation. Consultations are free, on the first two Saturdays of each month, in person at the studio or over video. We go through your idea, placement and size.

I design the whole composition, stencil the geometry so it's exact, and draw in the organic parts to fit the body. From there it's tattooed over one or more sessions depending on size and complexity. I work fast, and I keep the linework and symmetry clean.

The studio

I work from a private studio in Bristol, by appointment only. It's private and one-to-one, you get the space and the full session to yourself, which suits big detailed geometric pieces.

The studio's easy to reach from across Bristol, including Redland, Cotham and the wider BS8 and BS6 area, and plenty of people travel in from further across the UK for bigger pieces. It's a three-minute walk from Clifton Downs station, and if you drive, I sort you a parking permit.

Common questions

What is a geometric tattoo?

Tattooing built from clean shapes, lines and symmetry, mandalas, sacred geometry, repeating patterns and ornamental work. I do it in solid black blackwork, at a good size, so it ages well and holds its shape for years.

How do you keep geometric tattoos straight and symmetrical?

Geometry has to line up with the part of the body it's on, or it looks off. I always stencil the geometry so it's exact, and I plan the whole design around the placement before we start. Clean symmetry doesn't hide mistakes, so it's precise work that comes from doing it constantly.

How much does a geometric tattoo cost in Bristol?

I price work as fixed full-day or half-day sessions, quoted for each project rather than from a set menu. The total depends on size, placement, complexity and how many sessions it needs. A deposit secures your dates and comes off your final session. Tell me your idea when you enquire and I'll give you a clear quote.

How many sessions does a geometric sleeve take?

A full geometric or blackwork sleeve is usually around four to six sessions, and a full back is often about six. You can see real session counts on my Work page.

Do geometric tattoos age well?

Yes. Done in solid black at a good size, geometric and blackwork pieces hold their shape and stay bold and clear for years, long after fine colour work would have faded.

How do I book a geometric tattoo in Bristol?

Message me on Instagram (@si_tattoos) or use the booking link with your idea. We start with a free consultation, then a deposit secures your dates. I book ahead, so there's usually a wait, get in touch and we'll sort dates.
